I've been offered a Pug 206 Gti on a W plate from a friend at work.
It needs a new battery ( keeps going flat ) but has 6 months mot.
Interior has a few marks but seems to drive ok

He wants £900 - does this seem a good deal ?
Never had anything to do with the Gti range.

Yeah sounds pretty good. They where never raved about as a hot hatch but for than money I wouldn't be bothered, it'll still be a hoot to drive.

Sounds more like the alternator than the battery though. Is the battery light on? If so it's the alternator. Not a big problem, just a bit trickier to replace than a battery.

Actually if you look back at the reviews in 1999 they were very good, simply clio172 moved the hot hatch scene on a lot.
206gtis are excellent value now, and seeem to age rather better than ph1 172s. certainly thats what i've seen at the lower end of the market.
