Hi,

been looking at possible different cars and the clio sport may possibly fit the bill?
Ive got around 6-7k max to spend excluding insurance and im not to fussed about cost of insurance.
Anybody have any advice/warning before persuing one of these as a possible next car? What kind of image do these cars hold, are they reliable? I have had bmw's previously and enjoyed owning them but would like to venture out of my comfort zone so to speak lol!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

1. Buy a 182 Trophy.
2. Enjoy one of the best handling FWD cars ever.
3. Be prepared to be asked by everyone why you drive a pink girls car.

As Sir_Dave has said 6-7k would get you a nice Trophy and they are extremely good, don't dismiss a 172/182/cup though as they are also great cars and can be had for a reasonable amount less than a good Trophy.
They are pretty reliable as whole, only problems really seem to be electrical gremlins which are always easy and cheap to fix. They are also very good on fuel which is a thing to consider these days, you'll spend more time driving it and less time at the petrol station compared to a lot of similar cars out there.
Build quality is pretty reasonable too, especially in the later cars.
Overall great cars IMO and i'm sure you wouldn't regret buying one.

Hi

I bought one around 6 months ago, and it makes me smile everytime I drive it. For that sort of money you could take your pick of a 182 full fat, 182 cup, or trophy. 182 FF is great as a daily drive and hoon.
There's plenty of buying advice over on cliosport.net.

For that sort of money you'll be looking at the best ones you can buy so there shouldn't really be anything to worry about, as in that price bracket all the servicing will be up to date etc

If you're going to go along the trophy route it might be worth having a look on the www.cliotrophy.co.uk website for a enthusiast owned one as many seem to have under gone some questionable modifications.
Also you'll find everything you need to know about the sachs suspension. The basics are the shocks do need rebuilding from time to time, you should look for one that has had this done ideally. This costs in the region of £400 and will leave you with out use of the car for a few days while they get serviced.

I had a 182 trophy and sold it to get a megane R26 which was sold not long after so i could return to a clio, this time a 172 cup, they really are great fun on our roads.
