Clio Idle

Hey guys!

Recently my clio is sounding rough as fe*k from cold.

Its a Mk2 facelift 1.2 16v and has always been a bit clattery from cold. I know this engine seems to have a reputation for being rough from cold and at idle, but it seems to be getting even more so! Once up to temperature however, it runs absolutely faultlessly.

Wondering if anyone had any ideas what this could be? And if its a problem or just a trait of this particular engine?

mine's not clattery, but it often dies after about 3 seconds when first fired up for the day.

Dephaser? (if you have one) These can cause poor starting/running when cold and decreased fuel economy
