Hello all,

Just looking at new front tyres for my pug. Had BF Goodridge and am now looking at Goodyear Eagle F1's or Toyo's.

Any recommendations?

Cheers

Edited to add: I have 195/50's on at the minute, is this correct as I can't seem to find Eagle F1's in this size?

Had Goodyear Eagles on mine they gripped right to the edge when unfortunately they let go and had me doing repeated upside downs.

I think Eagle F1's and Toyo Proxes are very similar tyres. I've had both and haven't noticed huge differences in them.

Proxes. All the dry grip of Eagle F1's at two thirds the price.

I run both, obviously not at the same time but have 2 sets of wheels.

The Eagles are the better alrounder and the grip in the wet especially with winter coming up is awesome.

I've had the F1s and toyos, i prefer the toyo's personally but they don't seem to last as long as the eagles.

195 is not the standard spec for a 205, although obviously it does fit. Should be 185 originally, not sure of the aspect ratio though. So try looking for eagles in 185.

THey are 185/55/15 but no one runs them as they are twice the price - you'll find most in the club run 195/50.

From my extensive research (hehe) Mich PE2's are superb, but have the pricetag to match.

Next Eagle F1's, then Toyo T1S's, then T1R's which as said, are as progressive and predictable as the F1's, but not so good in the wet.

Falken 912's are getting good reviews, but never tried them in anger, only on a friend's 205.

I had F1 on the pug when i got her and now gone to toyo T1Rs, as i was haveing the same problem as you in finding F1's in the right size.

The T1R i have found to be superb, been out on 3 hoons in them and find them superb, good in wet, dry and once scubbed in have a really nice predictable grip!!!

Loads of grip but also easy to get drifting if you try hard enough!!!

Also at £126 for all four couners delivered from camskill, you really cant complain!!!!

Also be warned the only F1 i could find where a 195/45/15 but DONT GET THEM as the load rating is for a fiat panda 100hp!!!! personally wouldnt advise on an engine swapped pug!!!

Just come back from another long weekend at the Nurburgring, dry, wet and damp laps were all superb, so glad i went on the PE2's rather than F1's and certainly the T1R's that i went on in May, the difference was night and day!

I've been very pleased with my Falkens. Recommend by none other than Miles himself - if you're into your 205s, you should know his name!

I realise you posted this a while ago, but what falkens were/are you running? 912's or FK452's?

Yep, ZE912s. Still on the same set and they're great.

Thanks for that. Think I'll be giving these a go on the old girl very soon.

Yeah, they seem to be as grippy as a Yoko A539 in the dry, as good as an Eagle F1 in the wet and lasted over 10,000 miles fine. Time for a front to back swap soon, but still a decent amount of tread up there.

When it comes to replace them I wouldn't hesitate unless they were massively more expensive than the GoodYears.
