Hi,asking this question on behalf of me mum.She has a 1999 1.1 and has been quoted £300 to change the clutch,just wondered if this sounds about right,sounds a little dear too me?
Sounds a bit dear. £70 will buy a decent Valeo/LUK clutch, or £35 will buy a cheapo one with a heavier pedal. Labour-wise, anything over £150 is a bit steep really, it's an easy job.
If your mum took it in it for a quote it might be a case of the mechanic pushing costs up because she's a woman. Try taking it to a different garage or just ring them up-amazing the difference a man's voice makes lol
