2.0 307 (Diesel) Tuning

After some advice please peeps, I have a 2.0 TD 307 S/W Estate on an 08 plate, id like a bit more BHP out of it, as standard it has 136BHP,after ringing a few dealers from their ads in Autoexpress im being offered anywhere from 160-185BHP and more usefully large increases in torque, priced from £350 to nearly £500, all from a similar sounding device that "just"increases pressure in the fuel rail.

Ive had cars and bikes mapped previously, I was expecting a chip or ECU remap to tinker with the boost and fueling but it seems not from these vendors.

My Q's are- Does anyone have such a device fitted? Does it work?...any alternatives like chipping? Anything more cost effective you could recommend ?

Please be careful with this, I've seen a 407 HDi 170 that had a "tuning box" attached - it ended in tears when the engine went bang , the pistons had melted with chunks flying off and it wiped out the block too and the owner was none to happy when Peugeot warranty told him to bugger off and the tuning box people didnt want to know. Peugeot have had several of these and have given specific instructions to dealers that cars with tuning boxes fitted have invalidated the warranty.

I would have thought a re-map would be a better option as it would be less "visible" but it is likely to be wiped if a dealer does an ECU update download.

I 2nd everything marcusRR said.There is so much crap on the market.Not only will all this invalidate your warranty it could cause problems with insurance.I have known them to check ESU`s after a big crash.If they have been "altered" your in trouble.
