Hey, I've been having trouble with my Renault Megane. [Its a 2Litre (model IDE Sport coupe) yr 2000] .

I've been having problems when I've been trying to start it the first time in the morning; although it starts fine everytime after that.

Im just curious if it has anything do with an orange coil light that has just recently turned itself on, on the dash,

Would anyone know what would cause the starting problems and if its related to the orange light?

Any information would be great,

Thanks,

Jonny.

Hi,

How many miles has your car done out of interest? The IDE engine was not exactly Renaults finest engine (massive understatement) and if you do a google search you will find plenty of horror stories about it.

If you have a light on the dash then I would get one of the cheap ODBII scanners from ebay and see what error code is being reported. Once you know what the problem is you can go from there.

You might be lucky and it is something simple like a lambda sensor but be warned problems with this engine are sometimes almost impossible to fix.

We've had a lot of problems with fuel pressure regulator's on the IDE's. Take it to Renault, it'll cost the same as one of those tacky OBD readers for half an hours diag. and they'll be able to point you in the right direction.

It's not Renaults best engine, tbh I have no idea why it was ever used. Why they ran the F4R and the IDE is beyond me.
