Afternoon all,

Apoligies if this has been asked before, but the Search is FUBARed at the mo.

My little sis has a '53 plate Clio 1.2, and when she starts the car from cold (so 1st thing in morning, after work etc) the idle really hunts massively.

By that i mean it 'bounces' from 500 to 1500prm in 1 sec bursts. A tickle of the throttle has it settled properly.

Any owners found the same issue or know what it is?

Cheers

Clio's of that era especially the Renault Sport ones have that "characteristic" does it sort itself when warm? Renaultsport customers are advised to let the car idle for a couple of minutes before driving off and that normally overcomes the issue

Been in a fair few clios, is it the 16 or 8v 1.2?

The 16v's have a reputation for idling as rough as nails for a few mins, though once at operating temp it should run absolutely fine.

Just make sure you give it a thorough warm before venturing to the higher scales of the rev range and it should be fine smile.

Is it also down on power? If so it could have dropped a cylinder and be running on 3.
