Clio 172 Cup clutch
Discussion
The clutch on all 172/182 are always heavy to operate. Takes a bit of getting used to after driving a car with a lighter more common weight. You soon don't notice it except if caught in stop/start traffic and your left foot gets a bit of a work out! Perhaps this is causing your trouble?
The clutch on my 172 Cup lasted about 78k IIRC. Replaced it as a preemptive maintainance when I was having new gearbox dropped in. It was well worn but not completely dead. They are pretty robust - mine certainly took some stick! I never experienced slip or strange operation like you have described.

Ah yes! This is exactly what I'm experiencing. It quickly get's annoying in traffic as it is quite hard work. I'm so used to being able to control my fiesta's clutch perfectly that I just thought something was wrong. It's getting easier but I've had a few kangaroos this week
It's on 75k and to my knowledge hasn't had a new clutch so I suppose that'll be coming in a few thousand miles.
I never had a problem controlling the clutch (no kangarooing etc). Just it was hard work sometimes. With a bit of practice you should be able to let it creep along on idle with the clutch completely out At least mine was happy to do that. It's on 75k and to my knowledge hasn't had a new clutch so I suppose that'll be coming in a few thousand miles.
With regards milage it very much depends on use and driving style. You could have many more miles left on it.
