A friend of mine has a Megane Scienic, suffering with over heating problems.

Had a compression test done-ok, also done a block test-also ok.

He recently fitted a new water pump, and bled the cooling system. When he run it home from work it was ok. Got in it the following morning to go to work, and it was over-heating. Done a second compression test and block test and all was ok.

Have wire the fan to be constantly on, and still over heats.

Bled the cooling system again at work, drove home fine. Got in to drive to work the following morning...and you guessed it, it over-heated again. Someone please give me some ideas.

Not a mechanic - as you're about to discover - but have you checked whether the temperature gauge is giving an accurate reading?

What engine ?
Whilst it sounds really strange I had a R21 many years ago like that, somebody had fitted the drive belt wrongly and the water pump was turning the wrong way.

Not loosing any water as far as i am aware, as for it being diesel, im not too sure. And finally i hope the belt hasnt been fitted wrong, turning the water pump the wrong way as the guy is a mechanic. Its a wierd one i know, ive suggested loads of things, but it just overheats after leaving it over night. I will get him to check the temp guage, pretty sure this isnt at fault though.
