i have a mi16 engined 205 the engine has had head work and fast road/race cams in her so with other tweeks and mods is running around 180-190 BHP, i have been looking around at which oil to put in her as she is now due an oil change and everywhere keeps saying to use 10/40 MINERAL oil.

now to me this seems like it would be fine for a standard engine at a push, but i alwyas look at mineral oil as being inferior, and was wondering if someone can reccmomend me a good oil or additive to use for my engine. or is mineral oil gonna be the best????

Many thanks
Jake

any 10w40

Magnetec or Shell Helix, I've used both over the last 10 years on this engine.

One of the mysteries of Peugeot ownership is why everyone says you shouldn't use synthetic oil. Normally the reason is given that "they're too thin" which is a complete load of bks put about by people who don't know their arse from their elbow.

Use a decent 0w-40, especially in an engine using non-standard cams.

it used to look like this

It's got a GTI-6 inlet manifold now and no strut brace.

I had a shortened adaptor between TB and AFM and along with the top hat adaptor it allowed me to keep the washer bottle in the same place. Funnily enough I've just sold those bits.

I've binned all the Motronic set up in favour of using a fully mappable Emerald management system. It gets rid of, amongst many things, the dizzy cap, ignition amp, AFM and old engine loom. Fitting the GTI-6 inlet is a bonus as the TB has a slightly larger single butterfly and a potentiometer for a TPS as opposed to on and off.

I've wanted the Emerald set up for years, I'm running different camshafts so finally it makes the most of them.

Brum!
