Laguna - W reg 2000 advice/questions

Hi.

Before I go off to bother the folk on a random Renault forum I thought I would ask here first.

I have recently been given the car as mentioned above. It has a few issues which I need to sort out.

I don't have all the books, and therefore would like to know when the timing belt requires changing, car is currently on 61K miles.

Speedo - It's acting random, sometimes it works, other times it doesn't, seems to bunce around wildly until sorting itself out around 45 mph.
I'm concerned that this is effecting the mileage reading, hence, causing a possible timming belt concerns.

Last one, I only have fan force 4, I'm guessing the resister pack is goosed, any idea how the panel comes off, before I break it.

Whats the engine - wont hurt to do the belt anyway.

Speedo could be the transducer failing

The fan resistor lives behind the glovebox - simple to change.

The 1.8 16V NEEDS special tools to lock of the camshaft and crankshaft - the pulleys are floating ones, reliant only on torque to not slip!

Other than that ,no problem!
