So who has all had one go on them then ?

I knew they were legendary but have in 5 months of ownership missed out on such a failure.... until today...

Trundling nicely down the A90, 3 miles north of Brechin, nice flashing engine management light. Almost died as it dropped to idle, eventually just deciding to run like a dog instead.

Made it home, fault appearing intermittently, off to the local wee garage tomorrow who'll have it fixed in a jiffy.

Am I right in thinking grey top coils are rubbish, brown and green are the newer design ?

What Renault was this is on ??

One went on my clio V6 last week I changed it myself only a 2 minute job literally

Diagnose the offending coil

remove securing bolt

replace with new coil

replace securing bolt

FIXED !!

The grey-tops are prone.

They often go in pairs, so if for example, it was your no.1 coil that had failed - your no.4 will probably be next.

Anything Sagem is awful. Remember their mobile phones were branded by Tesco's in their "Value" packaging? Say no more!

Try and find some Denso ones. Have very little bother with those.
