Not sure if anyone has replaced their Xenons with an HID kit but I'm doing this now (cheaper than replacing the bulbs and ballast via OEM parts). But I have no idea which kit to pick in answer to the seller's question:

.pls give me the xenon hid bulb color and bulb color which you have ordered from us
please provide following info after bid for fast process your order:

2) Bulb Type (h3,h3,h4,h7,9004,9005,D2S,D2R.)

3) Color Temperature (3000k,4300k,5000k,6000k,8000k,10000k....)

Any ideas please?

Which bulb fitment is your car at the min. My vts is a H4 fitment. Basicaly just pic a colour u like the look of. My HID is the HI and LOW beam 8000k, these give that blueish look to them. Just make sure you get a kit with the metal base to the bulb because a mate got a cheap kit with the plastic base of the bulb and it snaped causing the bulb to dip

Ah ha, this may be easier than it looked then. The car is at home and I'm at work but I will check out the bulb when I get home, and pick the same colur as you, yes a blue'ish 'prestige' tint seems to clear more cars out of the outside lane on the M4 at night smile

Btw if anyone does know what the Clio 172 (2002) takes bulb-wise, please let me know. It will just save me waiting until I get home later, ta. I will Google it too..

Thanks for that, yes it does seem like 8000 is about right. I'm just googling to find the right bulb now, I've already ordered the kit so hopefully it's the right type, the supplier is asking about the specific requirements before they send it. Cheers again

What have you been quoted for the kit. They go for around 80 to 100 quid.

Personaly i would avoid buying these kits from hong kong due to the fact if somthing goes wong it mite be a hasel to get a warrenty replacement and will take that extra bit longer. Its also a single beam kit too. Then again it mite be a decent kit fingers crossed. I looked on ebay for mine the company were called HID's Direct. They do good quality kits and they are UK based (Manchester). Prices are good to and they do cover them under warrenty for 1 or 2 years. My bulb went due to me being a bit heavy handed but i still got a replacment no bother, check the web site just google HID's direct.

OK could be a risk now I've bought them, my full beam is still OK (and is super effective) so hopefully this will be fine. Someone else on PH got this kit and is very happy with them so I got this on that recommendation - if they are rubbish, don't arrive or break I will go with your UK option. Thanks for that.

I doubt none of those kits will fit your car. The 172 has xenons as the dipped beam so finding a kit that will fit your current wiring and bulb fitment will be difficult. Have you tried a breakers yard, theres plenty of 172/182s being broken up.

the kits fit the standard wiring and use two ballast to control them. I would of gone for the HI an LOW beam kit, which i have on my own car and i carnt fault it. They will fit i have a few customers who have fitted kits like these to ther mercedes and dont have any trouble with them. They are realy simple to fit took me about an hour.

With regards to colour temperature I'm going to fit 6000k to my Elise as according to a few reference sources that is the most 'relaxing' and easiest on your eyes during night driving, whilst still being plenty bright enough. 6000k is a whiter light than 8000k I believe which has a blue-ish tinge.

Thanks John, hadn't actually considered that, I spend about 2 hours a day driving in the dark (30 mins AM, 90 mins PM)
