Was driving to work this morning, pulled up at a set of traffic lights and noticed steam coming from under bonnet, pulled over and noticed that strong Renault coolant smell, I was like ekk, popped the bonnet; low and behold there was an empty header tank, with a wet engine.

Got the AA to come out to have a look, as I thought tow to Dealer.

Had a lovely call from Motorline in Maidstone saying they want £648.05 to change a radiator!!

I couldn't belive the price, I then called there sister garage in Ashford and they quoted me £533.08.

When I questioned Maidstone they was like o is it, I'll give you a call back, I'm waiting for the call lol.

I'm also going down tommorrow to check the part over.

The car is a 59 plate Clio Renault Sport 200.

If they are asking you to pay, is it because the rad has been holed? Surely otherwise it would be a warranty job.

Yeah I know that Cath but I want to have a look myself. I would do the job myself if I had the time (I was a mechanic) so just want to check what they are saying.

Rob what about seeing what it would cost with Renault Minute. I'm sure they could switch a radiator.

Nightmare!!

Have they told you why it's got to be changed?

Hole or detached hose that allowed it to run dry and fry itself?

All sorted?

A lot of the Renault range now make an alley rad that consists of the a/c condensor too. So if you do need to change your condensor, it'll include the radiator aswell! Eeek!

Slightly better than Audi spelling and grammar it would appear. Idiot.

Unlucky Rob. Do you have to have it repaired at a meain dealer? I'm about to get some pads changed on my RS Meg and am going to use an independent recommended by some folks on Meganesport.net
