aAy advice on the following would be much appreciated.

1998 306 D LX

Has remote central locking which has never worked and this has never bothered me as the door central locking was fine.
I while ago, when locking the door (any of them) the central locking used to flick back open as soon as you turn the key to lock it. Turn the key several times used to solve the problem or if not, you just took the fuse out and back in again all would be well - although its quite embarassing in a public place. People look at you like your trying to steal your own car!

Now its got to the stage where it just point blank refuses to lock so I've dissconected the central locking altogether by unplugging both control units under the off side rear seat and am just manually pushing down the door pins to lock it. This is all good and well however, it seems the only way to lock the boot is via the central lokcing! So, no matter what I do, the best I can hope for is four locked doors and the boot remains unlocked!
Its really frustrating as I can only leave the car upagainst a wall to stop anyone getting into the boot - which houses a decent sound system.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

thanks in advance.

These too have problems with broken wires in the door to body looms, unscrew the loom from the door pull the bung out of the body and peel back the sleeve and you should find the culprit(s).
If the wires have broken far enough away from the plug you may be able to solder them back together(i find an extra pair of hands useful for this).Don't use crimp connectors they always fail.
The other thing to do is lubricate ALL the door lock mechanisms well with penetrating oil (until it runs out of the bottom of the door )
Bon chance

I have a 306 with pretty much identical problems to the OP (although mine was never made with the remote function).

Do you mean the cable connector unscrews from the door (presumably this is an electrical and mechanical connection)?

undo the plug from the door (it may be a bit tight but should just unscrew)then release the rubber sleeve from the body to give a bit more room and peel back the sleeve from the plug end.You should then find any number of broken and cracked wires that need soldering back together.

My sister had exactly the same problem and it was to do with the wires from where they left inside the car to where they went into the door bit fiddley but got there in the end electrician or auto technician not really required unless your not mechanically minded
