My brother bought a 1.1 C2 a couple of weeks ago from a little old woman who covered 3k in 2 years. Every now and again while driving along, the revs go sky high for no apparent reason. My thoughts are that the little old woman rode the life out of the clutch during her time and although only doing 3k, she's completely fked it.

Anyone got any experience of this sort of thing on a C2?

Little bro is clueless about cars and lives across the water so I can't get a drive in it and he hasn't the mechanical nous to tell me and more than what I've told you... so I appreciate diagnosis will be difficult but any ideas are welcome.

I assume the revs rise when the accelerator is pressed, and not randomly?

I don't know. I did ask the brother that but he doesn't know enough about the inner workings of a car to make that connection. I'd assume that yes, the accelerator is being pressed, but I don't know if this problem is during hard acceleration or keeping a steady pace.

Like you said, sounds like the clutch is randomly engaging, new one should sort it
