Im still looking around for a hatcback and with a budget of 1000 to 1500 I was wondering if I could get a half decent GTi 6 ?

Definitely not expecting mint but could I get a solid car ?

Or should I go back to looking for a Fiesta,Puma etc.

Thanks all

Short answer yes. Beware of broken door looms, broken air con (they will always say it needs regassing but it's far more expensive than that), rust around the sunroof and cambelts which can fail early.

Other than that they're bargain cars.

Cheers, it's got an Mi engine in now but is currently laid up with a whole load of issues!

Good luck finding a 306, you'll have loads of fun! I still hanker after an S16 as a daily drive.

306 gti6's are excellent, I picked one up for about £1k and it performed well and didn't let me down. Wasn't perfect but ran well, I spent a few quid on it on bits and bobs (rear caliper, new tyres, brake pads stuff like that) but never had any bother.

I sold it onto a friend (who also has much higher performance cars) and he loves it, it's still going strong and last time I spoke to him he was considering buying another for a spare just in case this one ever broke biggrin

There's loads of plus sides to these things, at the money you'll struggle to do any better. Working air-con is rare though as stated.

I was looking for another myself but ended up with a 205.

Dunc.
