i was just wondering if anyone knows if the XUD9 engine out of the peugeot 306 will go straight into the 205. i currently have a 1.9td the same as a 306 but the pictures iv seen of the 306 engine look slightly different around the thermostat.
the head on my car has a small crack in it so thought it would be better to change the engine as i don't know how long its going to last and its done quite high millage.

Yeah they're all pretty much the same. Only differences are the fuel system (Lucas CAV, or Bosch) and some of the cooling pipework might need adjustment. Try to get one without EGR and make sure you get all the manifolds etc as these did change. The inlets are square on the later 1.9's, oval on the earlier ones. But overall the engines are practically the same.
