the starter motor on my mi16 pug started playing up the other day, when turning the key to start hear you can hear the starter motor clicking and trying to turn but not turning the engine so i thought it might be bushes so off came the starter stripped down and put back but i think that i might have got something wrong as now when you turn the key there is nothing at all no clicking nothing.

Can anyone help with what i might have done wrong????

Many Thanks

Mine's been doing the same and in fact today it didn't want to turn over.

Replace starter motor.

bad earth maybe ?

even though you battery might be good, give it a good charge, as i've found that just a slight drain on the battery can affect the starting

it's the time of year now, when you need the battery in tip top condition thumbup

yep checked battery as in lights were wokring to normal level but didnt check on meter, took starter out but forgot to disconnect the battery, and shorted the starter off the block and now my immobiliser led is not flaching so i think i might have shorted something in there so first things first is to get that working whilst charging the battery and go from there!! god you got to love 20 year old cars that have had 13 previous owners!!!! also the fact that it so low you get back ache unless you are a 3 ft midget!!!

Many Thanks for the ideas guys

Often a good idea to check the actuator wire from the switch too, these have a habit of breaking down and causing similar symptoms. smile
