Anyone happen to know if the Recaros are height adjustable, and/or if they're mounted any higher than the standard seats?

Also, what's the general opinion of the Cup chassis on normal roads as an everyday proposition? Is it OK or will I end up wishing I'd stuck with the standard sport chassis?

Any other comments welcome ... not had a test drive yet, never owned a Renault and not normally a supermini type of person, it just looks like a lot of fun. What's it like on the motorway though?

Ta!

Hi I have a 200 with cup pack and Recaro’s, the driver’s seat is height adjustable, height wise between the normal and the Recaro’s I don’t know but you more than welcome to try mine out if you local (I’m in Maidstone, Kent).

The standard 200 chassis is a lot softer than the original 197 due to the frenchies not liking a firm ride, the cup chassis is a lot harder than the 197 cup / r27 chassis, but I find it perfectly liveable.

Motorways it fine the 200 has cruise control and speed limiter which is nice on a long journey.

Any Questions just drop us an email and I’ll help where I can

Rob

(If you want to know about any of the options just ask as mine has it all :-))

Hey Ginger thanks for that … I think Recaros are essential, really, but I've read a few reports saying the seats are high, and I'm 6'4'', so just wanted to check on the adjustability thing.

Have you got the stereo upgrade? On pics I've seen, it looks like the RCA/USB ports might replace the cup holders on the standard car - is that right? My wife does like a coffee in the car...

Can't think of any other questions other than that. Thanks for the offer of a spin, but I'm over in Wiltshire so a bit too far really. Apparently there's a demo 200 not far from me so I'm going to try to get a go in that this weekend.

I think I'm pretty close to buying one of these. Only question remaining is colours. I'm thinking red with black wheels at the moment. :-)

GingerRob - just looking at yours - your headlights don't have the black background. Is that what the standard lights are like? And the black background comes with the corner lights? (I don't like that black background, looks cleaner without I think.)

Cheers!

Options I have:

Carbon Fibre Interior Trim Recaro: Basically gives you Recaros and a carbon fibre look trim to dash

Bluetooth Head unit upgrade: Gives you USB connectivity and a 3.5mm jack plug instead of the 2 rca plugs, Bluetooth integrated and voice dialling(I haven’t been bothered to set this up yet) also better sound output and streaming of music over Bluetooth (great if you have an iPhone like me)

Electric folding mirrors: does exactly what it says on the tin

Double optic headlights: gives you black headlight surrounds and cornering lights and a big glass ball in the headlight lol

Cup spoiler: Big Renault spoiler on the back (just finishes the back off, would recommend the GT spoiler as a bar minimum)

Satin Black Speed lines: Clio Cup wheels in satin black (still 17")

Cup Suspension: Stiffer suspension, red brembos, and if you don’t upgrade the alloys you get 5 split spoke anthracite alloys, also quicker steering rack

Factory Extra Rear Tints: Gives you darkened rear glass

Tom Tom Sat nav: For £450 list it’s a bargain, also you get colour screen in the centre of the dash with removable memory card to upgrade the unit, has a Bluetooth remote control

White ID paint: fashion thing and liked the white and black theme (and my old r27 was liquid yellow)

Hope this helps

Rob

So Rob - I see you're a dealer, any tips on negotiating a good price then? I've heard Renault dealers are open to a bit of haggling, but I didn't seem to get mine to budge from the list price on Saturday :-(

Hi, get yourself onto this web site forum:

http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/community/forum/Defa...

There are a few threads showing most of the colours available and some very good deals available from some of the dealers on there.

Oh, and I love my Clio 200 with Cup pack and recaros!!

Rob, the Recaro driver's seat IS height adjustable? I thought it was only the standard ones?

I'm wanting one of these but need to see whether my girlfriend can see over the dash if we have recaros!!

Yep, the Recaros are height adjustable, but the lowest position is higher than the lowest position of the sports seats (I sat in both on Saturday to find out).

So if you're after extra height, you're fine.

If you're lanky, like me, and want to stay nice and low in the car, you might want to stick with the standard sports seats. That's what I'll be doing.

Jez 0 - just remembered, it's only the driver's Recaro that's adjustable. Passenger's is fixed. If you're very tall, it can feel like you're on a bit of a perch, or at least that how it felt to me.

Ginger, I'm in the process of ringing round and seeing who'll do what. I'm based in Salisbury. Salisbury dealer seemed half asleep when I went in, so I'm trying others. Quite good fun really.

That's fine- if I'm driving I'm not bothered if my other half can't see over the dash, but a different matter if she's driving!!

Cheers.

I work for a Renault dealer in Northants.
PM me your spec when you are ready to buy, happy to do a cost price deal. Probably best to buy soon and benefit from pre-VAT increase prices from 1st Jan.

The 200 Cup chassis is stiffer than the 197 Cup/R27, but they're a different damper deisgn which means that the increased stifness doesn't translate to a harsher ride. To be honest, you wouldn't want it to either.

My Cupped 197 is a bit jarring at times on these roads. But more than worth it, especially on the 200 as they've softened up the standard chassis.

Recaros are height adjustable but still quite high on the lowest setting. Worth sitting in one if you can.

Yes, many people are probably torn between Cup chassis or normal, as well Recaro or not. If you feel better after long drive with Recaros than I would take that, but I suspect standard seats support lower back better. But Recaros are firmer and quality product. As for the standard chassis in Evo mag some testers prefered it to the Cup which gets great reviews.

For a moment I would take standard chassis(for twisty and bumpy roads) with Recaros.
