Hi All,

Bought a Clio 182 both cup packs earlier in the year. Noticed during test drive that the passenger wiper blade had a nasty habit of slipping around the windscreen and spanking the A pillar and passenger side window.

TADS, according to the guy who sold her to me, but he did recommend another brand of wiper aside form the standard Renault model. Of course, being an idiot I never got around to replacing the wipers over Summer, and have now forgotten the brand name.

I got caught in some heavy rain while late for a meeting the other day and, on getting out of the car after 90 minutes of wiper/A-pillar BDSM the wipers have literally scratched the paint all the way down to the bare metal - lots of smaller scratches and one 1/4inchx2inch lesion. Sigh.

So I'm wondering if any 182 owners on here have had the same problem, and if it was a particular make of wiper that fixed it. Have been to local Renault dealer in Cheltenham - no help there.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Si

Never had that problem with my 172 Cup - which would have the same wipers surely? Only ever changed the blades once.

Just a thought but has the wiper blade been fitted correctly? As some wipers may not have the piviot for the wiper arm in the middle, this was the case when I worked on trucks, might be worth a check

Sounds like the wiper is not fitted correctly, on the Clios the wipers swipe the wrong way to normal uk cars so sometimes when buying wipers you have to turn the plastic clip over. Also check the wiper is the correct size, they both should be 21".

its nothing to do with the actual wipers, its the linkage.
you need to take the whole linkage out and get a spot of weld to re attach the wiper spindle to the linkage arm, which is originally just a press fitting so far as i could see when mine did it.

in the mean time remove the whole wiper arm from the spindle to stop it flapping around.
the alternative to this is a replacement linkage from another clio. which is more expensive than a touch with a welder.
