Renault Clio V6
Discussion
Wondering how much experience anyone has with a Phase 2 Renault Clio V6.
I cannot seem to get onto the ClioV6 owners Forum as you need to pay in order to become a member?!?!
Some questions:
- How suitable is it for every day use? (I also have a VX220 Turbo and as a yardstick that is NOT very practical having to put it into and out of the garage, cannot really drive it in a suit properly, etc etc.
- Is it really a widowmacker?
- Any real-life MPG numbers?
- Can you bring it to a Renault garage for maintenance or do you need a specialist?
- Can you put (light) lugages on the top of the 'engine compartment'
I would love to take a test drive from a dealer who has got one for sale somewhere (not too far from Windsor, Berkshire) so if anyone knows one ...
Any tips are welcome!

You don't need to pay to be on www.v6clio.net? which has answers to all your questions :-) butI cannot seem to get onto the ClioV6 owners Forum as you need to pay in order to become a member?!?!

1) Yes you can use it as a daily driver; there is a front storage area where people think the engine is!, storage behind the seats and the world's smallest boot
2) Only if you drive it like an idiot - given your experience driving a mid engined car I'm guessing you know the rules! The v6 has a grip "knife edge" lots, lots, zero - hedge if you know what I mean
3) Depends (of course) but on my Mk1 I could get up to 34mpg on a run and down to 10 on track
4) Yes but only with caution - independents are the way to go to be honest; pay less, get more
5) Yes you can
My housemate has a ph2 V6, I managed to get a decent sized suitcase to fit on top of the engine cover without much fuss, along with a large bag under the bonnet and it got us to Heathrow ok. Was still room for the extra bags we bought back as well.
They're quite pleasant to drive.
As for servicing etc an independent specialist is the best way to go, but there is a Renault Dealership that I can highly recommend, Ezra Sugden in Worksop, Notts. The owner of the dealership is a V6 fanatic & specialises in servicing them and is extremely reasonably priced compared to some other Renault dealerships.
