I'm trying to find a part for my father in law and managed to get the wrong thing last time, can anyone work out a part number from his description below?

Peugeot 205 Diesel GRD 4 door Registered in 1990

Need a primary pump. This houses the fuel filter and has a float switch which indicates whether there is water in the diesel. It is a Bosch system, that is- the injection pump is a Bosch. There is more than one type of primary pump, but my guess is that the cars with the Bosch injection pump used the same primary pump as on mine.I don't need the'head' which is how one bleeds out the air but they may only sell complete.

I'm lost, anyone understand what he's saying?

Thanks

I don't think your description is correct, a diesel primary pump usually means an electric pump that feeds fuel at low pressure to the injection pump.

I think he means a filter housing with a hand priming pump to assist bleeding.

Is it a diaphragm type pump on the housing? (a large black plastic push button).

Have a mooch about on http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/. Click on HELP on the first page, this takes you through registering and installing the program Peugeot use and gets you a login. (I don't remember installing it, but I must have done, to get the results! redface .)

Once you've got a login, choose the relevant car (I chose 205 to 1/91 or similar, in this case).

Then click on the 'Locations' tab of the main box on screen. Then click on 'ENGINE' in the main box, then click on 'SUPPLY' in the main box. Towards the bottom of the 'RESULTS' box below the main box on screen there is 'STRAINING FILTER PRIMING PUMP', click on that.

You see several description - among them are two 'priming pumps' (but not made by Bosch) and three Bosch 'filter bodies' among other things. Double click on a description for a picture and part numbers.

Adjust ingredients to suit your Father in Law's car, and having the car to hand you'll be able to recognise what you need (hopefully) smile .
