Hi all, posting on behalf of my brother.

His exhaust is hanging very low, after a closer look we found that the metal part holding the tail section up has sheared.
Just wondering what would be better, weld it back together(it does look possible) but we are not 100% that it's a good idea or to buy a new part. Obviously a new part would be hard to find as it's D reg and it looks like it's connected to the spare wheel holder.

Any input is welcome.

Do you mean the hanger has broke from the chassis?

One of the 2 parts has but the other one seems strong enough to hold it for now.

Hello,

Just thought I'd clear this up as I don't think my brother has explained it the best way.

All it is, is that the hanger that is attached to the back box with the rubber mounts keeps coming off the hanger bolted to the chassis. I have had a gti-6 engine fitted and it's making the exhaust shake itself to bits!

Do they originally have end tabs or something on the chassis hanger to stop this happening? Can I just put a bung or something on the ends?

Does anybody recommend getting an uprated exhaust for a Gti-6 engine?

I have red poly exhaust rubbers supports as found on ebay to support mine with a sort of stop shoved on the end to stop it shaking itself off

They don't have end tabs no, have you got a stiff lower engine mount?

As for an exhaust I'm unsure what people use with the 6 engine specifically but the standard phase 2 exhaust is fine for most reasonably standard 16v engines. Apart from that I've had the Ashley system recommended for my Mi.

I've used some powerflex hangers and some 307 hangers on both sides. The powerflex keep it stiff whilst the 307 hanger on sideways keeps it in place. I've used 2 of the smaller rubbers from the centre section on each side before too and that kept it from falling off but they liked to snap too often.

Cheers for the replies guys. Couldn't for the life of me remember if they had end stops. I'll try some different rubber mounts.
