Looking at getting a 106 GTi/Rallye soon and I am looking at putting on a set of Cyclones to improve the look and open the tyre options a bit. But will they ruin the fun factor of the car over the 14" wheels on the Rallye and GTi?

not really, the 1.9 205 alloys look good on that car too.

improves tyre choice as you say and you can also fit big brakes from a 306 gti6.

Keep it lightweight wheels and get 206 GTi brakes instead.

For the weight of the car, no need for the GTi-6 stoppers. Heck they were even overkill on my old 205Mi.

There's not really any need for a brake upgrade over good pads and plain discs anyway.

I wouldn't have thought Cyclones would ruin the handling, 205s manage fine on 15s, but I think it'd noticeably dampen the acceleration.

How about C5 steelies? They're 15" and made of alloy so weigh 4.odd kgs.

They'll be fine, remember the later Saxo VTS had 15" wheels.

Ok thanks - I suppose the easiest thing to do would be to test drive ones with and without

Cyclones will be fine. My mate has them on his, no complaints from him.

Cyclones will be fine....I run a Saxo VTR with 15in VTS rims, and 195/45/15 tyres. Granted the car is about 30mm lower than standard, but if anything it's better now than originally. More grip than before, especially with the Eagle F1's up front. It doesn't ruin the balance, although I'm running ditchfinders on the back. If I had anything grippy, the back end would hold on for longer than it's normal tail-happy usual, meaning that if it did let go I'd be travelling at a greater rate of knots.

Well thats my theory and I'm sticking to it! laugh

I'd go for a wheel with a centreless design for ease of getting them balanced, cyclones are a pita!
