Why can't Renault make an electric window for the Megane / Scenic that doesn't break all the time!!

And the dealer has the cheek to say: "hmmm, that's rare, I've not seen one of these fail before". Yeah right you feckin liar.

Anyway, rant over.

Is there any way to sort this with a better component that might last longer than a year or two?

My soon-to-be FiL bought a Renault Megane estate around 4 months ago - since then two window mechanisms have failed - I stripped one door down to attempt a repair to find the gearbox that controls the wires in pieces in the bottom of the door. My Dad's wife's Megane 2-dr has also suffered from constant window issues.

My wife has a Scenic II which still has faint tape marks on the passenger door interior where the previous owner taped the window closed!

Very common problem and the parts to fix it are cheap on ebay if you are prepared to do it yourself.

Same here- 2000 Scenic. The plastic bit that retains the cable at the window end broke and the window stuck down. What a stupid design. My 20- year old worm drive R21 Turbo windows are still flawless.

Picked up a new, complete motor assemble off ebay for ~fifty quid, now all I have to do is fix the water leak, and set the valve clearances (which requires stripping the frigging cam out). Bloody things.
