I've got a 2004 1.2 Clio. Opened up the oil filler cap and found a load of orange gunk in it. Was fairly solid. Managed to scoop it out.

Anyone else had this? Or know if it's anything to worry about.

Depends.

Do you use it mainly for short runs?

In the winter a bit of build up like that is fairly common. Much less typical in the summer.

Is your collant OK - ie not going down, doesn't have similar deposits under the cap?

Car is mostly used for short runs. 15 to 20mins twice a day. I noticed the gunk after a long drive to France though. Was pretty hot at the time too. I'll check the coolant cap.
