I have notcied having had my R26 F1 Megane for a couple of months that the standard Brembo's are fairly toilet. Does anyone know of a decent pad upgrade for them.

Also does anyone do a big brake conversion for them? Ap racing etc, I have done a google search and not come up with much,

Thanks

Jim

I'm surprised they are not that great. I'd go for a pad upgrade first before changing calipers. Can Ferrodo DS2500s' be fitted? They transformed the brakes on 172 Cup.

I had a look at a brake conversion for my 182 and it was around £2,500 including labour and fitting. I'd imagine it would be similar for the Megane.

Ferodo DS2500 pads seem very highly recommended. tbh I've found the standard setup more than impressive, but a pad upgrade is always welcomed.

I found the same on my R26. Particularly after a day at snetterton.

I changes the discs from the vented to grooved, changed the brake fluid from dot 4 to 5.1 and that was it...what a difference though, whether on road or track the improvements were very noticable - very cost effective solution.

How are these from cold?

I had Pagid RS4-2's on my 182 Trophy and they were awesome for fast road/track use but they were also pretty good from cold too.

After having the Megane for a week the brakes are the only thing I'm not overly impressed with so i thought i'd get some RS4-2's and change the fluid but Pagid don't make the RS4-2 pad for the Megane so this has left me wondering what to use. I see the RS29's but they're a lot of money to find they're not to great from cold.

What did the upgrades cost you out of interest??

Upgrading the pads seems like the best thing to try first, perhaps 1155's? If you do end up upgrading the calipers please let me know if the current 4 pots are for sale!

definitely the first thing to do would be a pad change and 'racing' dot 5.1 fluid. Then maybe look at discs as suggested above.

changing the discs, pads and fluid on my 205 gti totally transformed the brakes.

Yeah, very popular on the Clio's too, as are the DS versions which are slightly more suited to everyday driving and a bit cheaper.
