Find a good one and you won't be disappointed. There's a lot of rot out there so expert inspection is vital .Subframes ,outriggers and rear turrets need careful inspection .Rear lower wishbones are also major rot areas and they are stupid money from Renault ,the 4 bushes alone are £400 .
Engine wise pretty solid but most will pushing 100k ,chain driven cams so no worries there .Will normally sound tappety but again no real issue ,it's just a pain to set them so a lot leave them be .
Look out for blisters in the paintwork ,roof normally .
A lot have been broken for parts in the last few years so parts are normally attainable if you know the right blokes .Parts from Renault are hit and miss ....they exist but can take a while to find and then never turn up .

If you want more info drop me line .

GTA every time .The 610s are too lardy and I don't think they look as sleek as a GTA .

had alook at some of the gta s for sale on the owners site, prices vary hugely, obviously i assume condition rules the price, but also some of the adverts look out of date ?
had a look on autotrader as well , anyone know the the gta in white ?

Yes the ads are very out of date ...Some housework needed there .
Prices do vary quite a bit but a lot of the high end ones just sit there for years .The dealer ones especially .
http://www.renaultalpineownersclub.com/alpine_gta....
A totally restored one ,arguably the best around has just sold around top end figures given in that price guide .
5k will get you one of the best of the rest. 3to 4k a good usable needing a bit of cosmetics .
I stress again ,any will need careful inspection as you can easily spend that much again on seemingly simple repairs .£500 to replace the headlamp glasses for example .......

White one with the graphics on Autotrader ??
It's a 2.8 carb version ,do you have a preference ?Turbo 2.5 or nat asp 2.8 .
Paint needs attention I think and the bumper has been 'modded' It's probably worth a look and a bit of a haggle .....

at this point just looking and doing some backround research,
but looking at the market between 3 and 5k.
purchased my tvr last year to take to classic le mans and then stay in europe for 3 weeks .
we did 3700 miles in total, down as far as southern tuscany,
think the alpine would suit a similar trip next year.
so no rush to purchase.

as for turbo or atmo, think condition would be no1 priority, performance not an issue.
just did le mans this year in a 4.8 aero 8 morgan, with the french police on full alert to catch you speeding, best just to cruise at the moment.

Atmo more fun out the corners but you will feel it in your wallet on Euro trips ........Turbo will give low 30s to the gall .Atmo more like mid 20s.Look out for a later model with fold down rear seats. This will give you plenty of luggage space .
They are excellent GTs and the std seats are very very comfortable .My bro and I did Monza a few years ago ,2000 miles in 4 days .He has a 928 and was impressed with the GTA's ability to eat up the miles in comfort .

last summer petrol was at its peak ( 1.65 euros in italy )
with a 4.0 v8 engine , fuel economy cruising we got about 25 mpg.
never worked it out properly or i would have a nervous breakdown , bad enough paying the tolls,
loved every minute though !

Get yourself to this one day this weekend ...20+ GTA will be there on the RAOC stand .I'm there both days camping with the GTA ,21T and family .No better opportunity to give them all the once over and possibly strike a deal wink
Mine will be the black topped pearl white Turbo with a few mods ....
