Clio 172 'Electronic Fault' Light

I was wondering whether anyone could tell me if they have any experience of this on their Clio’s. Just about to drive to work and the ‘electronic fault’ light came up on the dash.

The effect of this is to limit me to 3000rpm, and the engine idles at around 2000 (although it moves about a bit). I have just had the car serviced, and had a number of things done to it. To be honest, I can’t see how this would affect the issue; I just mention it on the off chance that it is relevant.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Is it a common fault, or am I lucky enough to have found an unusual one…!?

Sounds like a sensor or sensors have become disconnected and the ECU is in 'get you home mode'.
