There is a slight noise from the rear of my 182 at about 40mph, and it appears again at 70mph (any quicker and it seems to disappear again).

There doesn't seem to be any vibrations and so I assume it is a wheel bearing - the noise seems slightly louder when on right hand bends than on left hand bends.

This points me towards it being the left hand rear wheel bearing, but I am only guessing! Does anyone have any alternative suggestions?

TIA.

(If it is a wheel bearing how difficult are they to change?!)

Yea, does sound like your wheel bearing, I had the same issue last year. the wheel bearings at the rear are in the discs so it can be worth while buying the disc/wheel bearing assembly and changing the lot at the same time. Thats the route i went down as the discs were due to be changed anyways.

If you want you can change just the bearings but it would be most likely be a garage job as you would need a press to remove the orignal bearings and fit the new parts. The job itself of just changing the bearings would also take longer compared to fitting a new complete assembly, as the old disc/bearing assembly would just be swapped out for the new. Depends how much you are willing to spend i guess.

Hope this helps
