My car's due for a service soon involving new pads/discs. Im thinking of putting Ferodo DS2500 pads on it. So firstly, is this a worthwhile upgrade on an otherwise standard system?

Secondly, i see Brembo discs high-carbon (from K-Tec) are actually cheaper that OE ones. Are these worth further investigation? Anyone have any experience of them?

Any help greatly appreciated

I've just put brembo high carbon discs and DS2500's on my clio 172, only had them on a week or so but so far seam very good, better than the standard ferrodo pads which came off.

The real test will be at SPA on monday so hopefuly there a worth while upgrade!

Don't go with more than 12 grooves on the discs, they warp under extreme conditions, and x-drills tend to crack from the drills as well. Assuming the car is driven hard that is.

Try some Green stuff pads, or even Yellow stuff. They've always done a good job of hauling my 21 Quadra down from warp speed.

I would'nt bother with Green stuff personally. No better than OE on the Clio IME (which is pretty decent to be fair). Difference between them and some proper pads is light and day though.

Cheers guys for the input. I just taken delivery of a set of HC grooved Brembos (approx 8 grooves i do believe), a set of front DS2500 and some braided hoses. The back i'll be replacing with OE discs & pads.

Hopefully i'll notice a difference as before i found the stoppers quite effective, but they did tend to fade a little (and that wasn't with particularly extreme use)...

Personally I agree, I put Red Stuff's on my cup and they stayed on for all of 3 weeks, worse pads I've ever used. I had bad fade on the road and had they smoking very easily.

I changed to Pagid Blue's and these were brilliant, couple with Brembo Hi Carbons, Braided Hoses and RBF600 fluid, lasted a few trackdays and around 25k miles.
