Where to begin.... brought this car brand new, had oil leak from day 1. It went back to the dealership 5 times, they could not find the problem, then replaced gasket seals and that seemed to do the trick. Took the car in for its 40000k service, got presented with a $3900 bill!! Most of this was to fix an oil leak - and what a surprise to be told it was originating from the same spot as always. The original dealership has gone out of business, as has the servicing company!! I approached Citroen stating what has happened, they have it all on file. They say because the cars warranty expired 3 months ago that this was now my problem. I explained to them that this was a problem acknowledged by them from day one, which they could not fix, they are not interested. I now am faced with taking legal action over this. Its a real shame as we have enjoyed the car, even though it rides rough (pity they didn't put the hydro suspension in this model). I was planning on upgrading to the new C5 Diesel Turbo (AU$72000.00). This is NOT going to happen now. This was our 1st experience with a French car - at the time of purchase all our friends said we would regret it. So now it looks like we'll have to somehow pay for this. We had to pay the initial $3900.00 to get the car back from the service centre - now we are going to be presented with a quote to 'fix' this problem - the service centre thinks the head is pourous and this was a manufacturing fault. They informed Citroen who said they were not responsible. Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Hi there,

Sounds like typical Citroen service to me (from my experience - I drive a C4), but please persevere as they really are better cars than the Focus / Golf monotony.

I'd definitely seek legal advice in your case - if it was a fault at the time of manufacture and was acknowledged whilst the car was in warranty, they should be legally required to remedy it IIRC.

If you need further help regarding your C4, may I suggest the owners' club at www.c4owners.org ? They're really quite good at advice.

Best of luck with your car and I hope it's running properly soon!
