Well for some reason there isn't a dedicated Renault Sport forum on here so I thought I'd start off this thread. Any new r26.r owners say hello & feel free to ask about any questions or problems you have.
As for myself the first job is to get a stereo fitted for those long trips to the ring-has anyone attempted this yet? I'm led to believe the wiring is there but that the speakers & head unit are all that is missing??? The idea was to just buy a Renault cd player off eBay & bang in some door speakers, think that'll be this weekends job!

I have hired an R26.R for the Ring and possibly Spa next weekend having driven RWD Elises for 6 years I'm hoping that it delivers on what the reviewers rave about.

who's hiring them out rsr? i'm thinking it'l be good for the ring-i'm out ther next month with mine so yo'll have to let me know.i took my exige there last year but i found it underpowred for the uphill stretch from bergwerk-mine was the n/a model & it really struggled
888's & a turbo should have it covered i reckon! i was out there two weeks ago in my m3 csl & a white r26.r on dutch plates went past me after miss hit miss - i couldn't keep up-i must say that section of the track isn't my strongest but that was what finally pushed me into trading the beemer in for the megane.
try & get some footage of your lap & put a link up

Yes RSR's. I will take by bullet cam.

I have been a few times (60+ laps) before in various cars all of which feel underpowered, Ron said the R26.r is a brilliant car, who am I to argue, really looking forward to it, just need to amend my driving style, my Elise was awesome under braking and cornering.

crags,

If you look towards the back of the owner's manual (the general megane manual, not the specific R26.R documentation), you'll see there are instructions there for the headunit.

I didnt find this out till long after i had mine fitted.

Basically, it's exactly as you say. You need to fit the speakers, then pull off the blanking tray, where you'll find the harness connectors. Connect it all up and job's done!!

Yeah, I was suprised to see it in the manual too. Didn't think to look before I had it fitted. I should think the renault HU would be fine. IIRC, I pulled off the blank on the steering column and there was no connector for the steering column controls anyway.

well it's going to be second on the to do list-I'm getting a new exhaust 1st,mine had the titanium on but I got the dealer to swap it to standard as he coudnt drop the price on it.I'm thinking milltek as they aren't supposed to be too loud for track days.

Hi folks.

Changed my R26 for an .R back in march.

MeganeSport is a good website for having some chat/info shared about the cars.

Has anyone used RSR at the Ring? I thought it'd be great to head down there and hire something like a R26.R but their liability policy put me off a bit, crash and you pay for the armco and their car unless i read incorrectly. Could be an expensive day!

rsr's cars are well prepared & you'll be hard pushed to find any hire firm that covers all costs in the event of an accident.
i go out there at least once a month & if i was to use a hire company rsr would be the only one i'd use having experience of them working on my car. top guys & top service

oh yeah & in answer to the accident problem there's one simple answer-don't crash!

On the head unit topic Sony do a specific Renault version it's in the accesories bit on the Renault website aswell as pioneer make specific door speakers for the car, you have to be carful with door speakers on the meggy because iirr the speakers are quite shallow and some people have had problems with the door pockets filling with water due to the plastic door sheeting being split / ripped as it comes through the speakers. Hope that helps

On the RS forum idea don't forget us Clio owners :-)

Sure- nothing against RSR, as i said i really like the idea... its just a bit scary thinking about the prospect of footing a multi-thousand£ bill, and the accident wouldnt have to be your fault. Would love to do it one day tho.

How do you find the R26.R after the Exige....I am very tempted with a R26.R after seeing one on the road the other week. Currently have TVR T350T but looking for a more track car. Before the TVR i had a number of Lotus including an Exige so very interested in you thoughts.

Also is it possible to fit a passenger normal seat belt?

New to the forums... Lunar Grey R26.R owner here. smile

Graig - Saw yours on Piston Heads, and was looking at your car review online earlier. Chiddy (Jonnie Wren) linked me to it. Good read.

I'm doing Oulton Park on the 27th. Fingers crossed it stays dry...

Craig's latest entry was so good, I put it on the "front cover": www.auto-journals.com
Direct link to the article itself here: http://www.auto-journals.com/journals/Renault?mode...

We'd love more Renault Sport contributions, there are already a lot of Clio ones, so keep them coming!
Just register, log-in and start posting. It's like a blog but better. (Muggins here edits everything before publishing)
