Hi all

I need to find somewhere in the S. Manchester/Cheshire area who'd be able to rebuild a 1.6 GTI with (I believe) a cracked block.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, I don't want the car to die!!

They have to be quite stringent to keep out the riff-raff!

They've stopped taking new users for the moment, whilst the databaase gets a bit of a clearout.

To be honest you're better off buying a known good engine from a car someone is selling. You can pick up a 1.6 8V for abut £50 on gtidrivers, or a 1.9 for about £70!

is it a cracked block or cracked liner? either way you'll end up spending £££ when you may as well just drop in another lump, and spend the extra cash on other bits n bobs.

unfortunatley it is believed SB have gone under.

But you'd be better off buying a good known (amd heard) running complete engine and either having that rebuilt (as they're cheap enough to buy) or giving it a thorough clean & slotting that in.

If you mean skip brown, you're very much mistaken. They're still as busy as usual.

I would definitely take it to them, especially as they are so close!
