306 gti 6 engine number??

Hi all,

First post to these forums. Have tried searching for an answer but can't seem to find it.

I have a 306 gti 6 engine in my 205 gti. My insurance co. are threatening to cancel my insurance unless I can give them my engine number but for the life of me can't seem to find it.

Can anyone tell me where it is located please?

To the right of the oil filter its on a flat piece just above the sump, it will be more or less impossible to read, you will need to get some mery paper on it to clean all the rust and crap off.

Good luck trying to read it. In worst case you might have to take the rad out to get a good look at it

Thought it were lookin to be a bit of a bugger, couldn't find it for the life of me.

I gave up and gave them the number off the 1.9 block LOL
