clio 172 or 306 GTI-6 buying guide / advise
Discussion
Hi
Have blown my M3 up yet again, it looks like it's time for a change and back to good fun hot hatches. Currently looking at 306 GTI-6 or an early clio 172.
what would you choose out of the two and what should I be looking for on these cars?
The car would need to be reliable enough to get me to SPA, the ring and along some mountain passes in June, is this likely to be an issue?
I'd also look at sprinting it so which is better as a standard car on the track?
Thanks in advance.

Had both, 306 is best 90's hot hatch, clio is best 00's ... 306 offers better steering, more space & better gearbox, clio has more urgency, is more chuckable & more reliable as its newer.
Drive both, buy whichever one you prefer.

^Crackpipe! Lay off it.
306 is a soft core hot hatch! Nothing exciting to look at and avg performance.
And the williams was a considerable better hot hatch of the 90's if we keep on the french theme. Failing that a DC2!
172 is a decent car, but alot of them are getting tatty and loose now. Need a bit of work to get them tight again!

If you fancy a 6, give Carl a ring at CG Cars. He prepares all of his extremely well for resale.

Have to agree with Sir_Dave here, the 306 is a real good hot hatch, i've never driven a GTI6 but i have done a fair few miles in a 306 Rallye, one thing i would say is that i think the Clio has a reasonable amount more grip than the 306. 306 is a soft core hot hatch!
