A mechanic friend has a problem with a customers car, where the ABS is pulsing the brake peddle just as the car is about to come to a halt (2mph).

He changed a drive shaft and has checked and double checked everything. The ABS light works properly. Any ideas what to do next please?

These symptoms are usually caused by a bad signal between the reluctor ring and the abs sensor, look for a damaged/deteriorated reluctor ring or excessive gap between it and the sensor.

Sorted now, apparently the reluctor ring on the new (exchange unit) drive shaft was faulty/slightly buckled, so he has to do the job again with a new part.
