hello

for some strange reason my 206gti has started to develop a very bad case of twitching at 75-80, for example if you floor it up to say 80 and then back of the front end will twitch and feels like it snaking up the road

also at any speed about 75 the front end becomes very twitchey, if you change lane it feels like the back is goign to come round and snake (if you get me)

now i have noticed that if i put it in reverse and full lock etc the left hand drive shaft makes a clunk and then all is well, could this be the issue?

i have had it at a garage today, and they have checked all the bushes, bearings, droplinks, rack , tracking, etc and they say its ok and that it could be the diff in the gearbox!! surely it cant be this? has anyone ever had this issue?? the gearbox feels crisp and smooth as always!!

anyway, im getting the garage to replace both the front the driveshafts to see what happens, as one is defo clunking now and again in reverse on lock.

any thoughts?

I had something similar with my 205 Gti, at above 70mph if you let off the front end wouldn't know which way it wanted to turn, very stange and extremly worrying with the wife in there as she goes nuts!!!

Any way, got it up on a ramp at my local peugeot dealer and went around every nut and bolt with a large set of spanners/breaker bar/Torque wrench and did absolutly everything up. After that it seemed to stop. My initial thought was that the diff was knackered and it wasn't turning the shafts together but it has gone away now.

I can't see that too much will be different knowing Peugeot so it might be worth jacking it up and having a go yourself.

Sorry if that's absolutly no use to you, just sounds round about the same as my problem.
