I conjunction with my other post on 172's, what kind of mileages are these engines capable of assuming it is well maintained??

I'm asking as a few cars i have seen advertised look pretty good but the miles are around 80k.
How often does the cam belt need to be changed. A work colleague told me they need to be changed every 50k, but i've read every 72k??

Not an expert on mileage for the engines but i'm sure i've heard that they are a good strong engine and are capable of high mileage if looked after properly.
Cambelts, depends on who you speak to, Renault say 72k or 5 years, but there seems to be a few cars about where the cambelts have gone before these figures. A few Renault specialists i've used/spoken too suggest 60k or 4 years.
Renault charge about £750 for a belt change but there are many renault specialists about that are nearer the £400/£450 mark.

Some guys on the Renaultsport site have in excess of 150k on some of the early 172's.
Mines just hit 64k, just changed the plugs/leads/coil for a miss but other than that pretty trouble free.

Id be more worried about the steering / suspension / bushes being as worn as a wizards sleeve.
