Just went to start my old 306 not having run it for a couple of weeks - turns over but doesn't start. It coughed a little on the first couple of turns then nothing.....

I'm inclined to think the fuel pump is dead because there is no pump priming sound when you first turn the ignition on - cant remember for sure but shouldn't there be some kind of whirring noise from the back of the car when you turn the ignition on? I think the pump is getting power because the fuel gauge zero's if you disconnect the multi connector on top (the pump an level sender are part of the same unit).... just no sound of pump priming.

Hopefully someone more experienced can lend me their experience!

Try giving the tank a whack from under the sender area with the ignition on this sometimes kicks them back into life.

Cheers chap. I've actually just had the whole thing out and given the pump a gentle tap - refitted and still nothing. I take it I am right in thinking there should be a pumping noise from the rear when I turn on ignition?
