Hi,

On Thursday my brake lights started to flicker, I've done a few searches on 106OC and I've found out that the Brake Light Switch [BLS] is often the cause of the issue. This made sense as I believe the interior light is on the same fuse, which works fine. The chances of both bulbs and the LED bar going are not likely so it thus must be the BLS.

I purchased one form the stealers for £7 something and just now fitted it, the old one came out fine and new one went in fine. It makes contact with the pedal, but upon pressing the pedal... nothing. I even removed it from it's holder to hang free, and double checked the wire was in, still nothing from any light.

The handbrake light has also been flickering which is the low brake fluid warning from the ECU (or so the searches on 106OC suggest). Could this be related or are they two separate issues that have appeared at the same time?

Thanks

Rob

If you connect a wire between the two connections on the bls the lights should come on.If they don't it's not the switch but either bulbs or power failure. It is possible that if one bulb goes the others follow suit they get more current as there are less bulbs to light, also they are normally of a similar age so fail at a similar time.

Check the rear earth points (inside the black plastic caps over the rear lights, inside the boot).

They are notorious for playing hell, especially come MOT time.
