Hey,

Are these 2.0 Gti's a good buy? They have dropped massively in price over the last 6 months.

I drive a Pug 207 (All be it a 1.4HDI van) everyday for work and its a lovely well planted car.

Looking for a car as a stop gap (build some NCB for a Impreza), but I've had friends with 206's that have had endless problems.

Their doesn't seem to be much talk about them on here... its just putting me off slightly

Unfortunately, compared to it's forbears it really isn't worthy of the GTI tag.

If you can stomach the image get a Saxo VTR.

Saxo VTR
Saxo VTS
Clio 172

All superior cars to a pug 206 gti in almost everyway and all available for around the same cash smile

I'd go for a Clio first, then a 106/306 gti.

Out of the hot hatches in that bracket i d get the 172 cup if insurance isn t too much of an issue . Reasonably fast and can still do 35mpg on a run . I m on my second 182 and can t rate them high enough !!!

I will be selling mine shortly for a fun car.

If you want practical with a bit more go then it's ok. Fun...no, not at all.

You get a lot of car for the money with the 206 180. However, i'd go for a 106 gti or 306 gti6 before i even considered a 206. Clio 172/182 is probably the best option, but i really like the 306 gti6 too.

306 Gti6 for a couple of grand. Can't go wrong - stick the rest of your cash in the Scooby fund.
