I've got a renault laguna 1.9 diesel estate, changed the brakes over to some none renault ones as you do trying to save money and took abs sensors off the old disks, that failed so bought some genuine renault ones much better but now the ABS light is permentantly on and speedo doesn't work and no where not even renault can scan it because they can't access the abs computer. renault want a fortune to repair it! anyone else had this problem and is there anyway it can be fixed without taking it to renault?

What, buying a Laguna, or mashing up the brake wear indicators?

The ABS sensors should be on the hubs, I assume you mean the ABS targets were on the disc? That doesnt sound right, they're usually on the driveshaft. Any pictures?

If you trace the abs sensor wire back to its connector ,unplug it and put an ohm meter across the terminals it should show resistance,if it doesn't that sensor is faulty.
