Hi all,

Sorry if this has been on here before i must of missed it.

Does any one know the mods required to dump the 6 lump in the tin can?

I'm guessing the ecu and wiring loom will need to be changed.

If it's alot of work i'll probably stick with a S16/MI16 engine

Thanks

Paul

There's a few people who have done / are doing this on www.306gti6.com

I'm pretty sure Carl at CG cars in Leicester has done it and might be worth a call.

www.205gtidrivers.com

AFAIK there is no more or less work involved than the Mi/S16 conversion

I've read that the master-cylinder/cam-cover clearance is a lot more marginal when using the 6 than with the Mi16 or S16 engines. People use shortened engine mounts to help, and/or re-angled pedal boxes.

cheers for the info guys, very tempted by the 6 lump due to oil surge problems. Do you have to use the dizzy adapter as you do with the mi16 engine?

I'll prob cut and weld the lower engine mount to give it enough clearance, will this mean having to get a custom manifold built due to the bulk head clearance (it's tight with the re-angle plate).

Will the 6 engine go straight onto a 1.6 box? i was going to swap a few gears from the s16 gearbox over like 3rd and 5th so my eardrums dont burst on motorway journeys.

Sorrento 205: I'm a member of 205gtidrivers but find it so bloody hard to use wiv all the restrictions etc.

Any info back would be much appreciated

Cheers!

there are no restrictions on the drivers website/forum its just a bit "funny" in its registration but once you make a post saying you fully understand and commit to obide by all the rules its easy.

Firstly, dizzy adapters are much gashness and most people dont use them now because Mi16 management isnt hard to come by. I dont know if you could use it with a 6 but i really wouldnt bother even if you could its just too much of a compromise IMO.

Exhaust, I dont believe the 6 manifold will fit although i'll happily be told im wrong. In my opinion the best solution is a maniflow exhaust (or similar), no need for the reangled plate.

gearbox wise, all the BE boxes are interchangeable AFAIK

thanks for info sorrento205, i am ment to be picking up a s16 engine at the weekend along with a baffled sump.

What changes do you have to make with s16/mi16 engine management? will you have to change the loom and the ecu?

Thanks!

yeah pretty much just swap the engine loom and ecu from the engine into the 205 at the same time and i think bobs your mothers brother, but there are bound to be intricacies i either dont know or have forgotten so its well worth doinga search on the gtidrivers forum for specific engine conversions.

Have fun whatever you do, 16valve'd 205's are ace biggrin
