My Girlfriend'd Clio (03' 1.6) has started making a sqeaking noise when turning the wheel (staionery or moving). Sounds like a dry seal and it has been left out in the cold a lot recently. Any quick fixes or pointers as to where to aim my oil can?

More than likely a strut top bearing or a broken spring.

Pretty certain its not suspension related as it happens whether moving or stationary and in unison with turning the wheel, or am I missing something?

Does it have a mechanical power steering pump?

Good question. Did they switch to electric at some point? It certainly drives like its electric PAS but I can't be certain without checking on the car. Its a 1.6 03 plate if its any use.

Strut top bearing turns when you turn the steering.

Cheers matey, my apologies, I'm not too clued up on the workings of McPherson Struts, assume the struts turns with the steering? Any idea where to point my WD40 can or is it time for a new bearing?

These are VERY prone to breaking the bottom half a coil of spring, get them both checked. As for the wd, probably will have no effect, but the top of the spring area is the best place to aim for .
