Replacing rear axle mounts - citroen zx/xzara
Discussion
Getting a loud banging from the back end on bumpy roads, have replaced the rear shocks which has made no difference. Think it could be the rear mounting rubbers.
The question is, would it be possible to lower the axle just enough to remove the rubber mounts without having to disconnect the brakes etc.

This can be done, but it's a bit tricky. you're better off removing the brake lines TBH, its not too much hassle but you'll probably need new ones as the old ones may well be jammed. Only a tenner or so from and motor factors/PSA main dealer though.
well worth doing, really firmed up my 306 (same chassis as I'm sure you know).

I have the estate so think i can get to the bolts fairly easily from above. The haynes book recommends doing all four mounts. I'm assuming if you undo all four bolts then drop the axle as much as possible without straining he brake pipes, the rubber mounts should be removable. Little assistance with the hammer possibly?
Any recommendations for best place to buy?

No,don't drop the whole axle it makes it more difficult to get the through bolts back in the mounts again.Do one side then the other.Just pop the brake pipes out of their clips that's enough.
I have only used genuine or gsf best quality .
