Any resident Pug experts have any ideas about this? My 306 misfires when its cold or wet (the wetter/colder, the worse it is) seems to sort itself out after 10mins or so of running i.e once its completely warmed up..... I've whipped out the plugs and they look OK but it seems to me that it must be an ignition problem of some sort.... Coil? Distributor? HT Leads? Any ideas mucho appreciated

If it has a coil rather than a coil pack try spraying it with wd40 or similar.

I would replace parts systematically - HT leads, dizzy cap and rotar arm will be a good thing to do anyway unless they have recently been done. Do a compression test if the engine is high mileage.

Either has four seperate plug leads going to coil or has coil pack bolted directly to cyl head covering the plugs, the coils are prone to hairline cracks giving your symptoms whereas the coilpacks usually just fail.

I'm trying to avoid spending unnecessary cash on such a cheap car....... no idea why it'd need a comp test?

Sounds like its what you've described then, probably just some dampness getting into (one of) the coils... which then dries out as it warms up underbonnet.
