Clio jammed in 2nd gear

Hi Chaps,
I have a 2001 Clio 1,4 and today it got stuck in 2nd gear. To be more precise, I pulled away from the lights changed into 2nd and happened to hit the rev limiter (as is normal in a traffic light grand prix over here in Athens),I then went for 3rd but the gearstick wouldn't move out from 2nd.
At first I thought clutch cable but the cluth works fine.
Everything else seems fine apart from the fact it's jammed in 2nd gear.
Any ideas?
